Next Generation Sequencing Overview

TAGC currently has two NGS instruments: Illumina MiSeq, which uses Sequencing by Synthesis technology, and Roche/454 GS Junior, which uses Pyrosequencing.

Each technique offers its own advantages for specific projects. To find out which instrument and technology best suits your research needs contact TAGC and setup a meeting with one of our technologists.

The MiSeq is compatible with the majority of Illumina’s library construction and assay kits as well as a variety of other options offered by third party companies.

Current TAGC MiSeq services include:

  • Whole Genome Metagenomics
  • de novo Assembly of Small Genomes
  • Reference Genome Sequencing
  • Targeted Resequencing
  • Small RNA Sequencing

We use the Roche/454 Rapid Library Preparation kit and all its subsequent applications.

Current TAGC Roche/454 services include:

  • Whole Genome Metagenomics
  • de novo Assembly of Small Genomes
  • Reference Genome Sequencing
  • Targeted Resequencing
